As the current custodians of the Interplas brand, Interplas Events Ltd, part of the Rapid News Group is just one stakeholder in the event. Interplas belongs to the plastics industry, and as we celebrate its 75th birthday we want to ensure that the future of the show is shaped as much by the supporters as by the organisers.

Colin Tirel

Colin Tirel is Managing Director of ARBURG Ltd based in Leamington Spa. He has been in the injection moulding industry for over forty years, having only worked for two companies in that time. Following an apprenticeship, he gained experience in manufacturing and customer supporting roles and from there moved to sales for Negri Bossi for thirteen years. In 1998 he joined ARBURG as Sales Manager, appointed Sales Director in 2001 and then MD in 2005.

Having previously worked at two other major players in the robot industry, as General Manager at Sepro Robotique Limited, I took the reigns from Paul Goodhew (Who sadly passed away last year) in 2013.
Driving the company forward with its ambitions to grow both robot and automation sales, the UK offices and team have been expanded to meet the increasing needs of our customers.
I look forward to every Interplas show, and the opportunity to welcome all who come to see us.

TH Plastics
I look after the Sales and Marketing department for TH Plastics, who are an ancillary equipment provider working with Moretto, Rapid Granulator, Crizaf and Altero Recycling Machinery. I spend my time supporting my team in working with Plastics Processors and helping them to understand where they can save time and energy, improve health and safety and re-use waste in their manufacturing facility.

Mike Bates
I live in Warrington with my wonderful wife. Our daughter is studying Management and Marketing at Bath University. I’ve been in the plastics industry for over 34 years. Originally starting in polyurethane, but for the past 20 years working in Injection moulding and extrusion. I was proud to receive the Ambassador to the Plastics Industry at the 2022 Plastics Industry Awards. Interplas is our real British show, it has been an honour to support the EAB and I wish everybody a successful show.

Mike is a Fellow of the IOM3, a Graduate & Post Graduate Polymer Technologist who has previously studied at Burton Technical College and the Institute of Polymer Technology and Materials Engineering at Loughborough University. His early career included experience in extrusion, thermoforming, and injection moulding with both in-house and trade moulders supplying various sectors including automotive.
In 1988 he joined Plastribution as a Trainee Technical Sales Executive and gained valuable experience in the sale of both commodity and engineering thermoplastics to a wide range of UK processors. He then moved into product management and in 1998 was appointed Business Development Director.
In 2000 he was promoted to the position of Managing Director, and since this time the business has enjoyed considerable success and Plastribution became the UK’s largest distributor in 2009.
Mike joined the BPF council in May 2005 and joined the SFC in January 2009. In 2007 he was elected Chairman of the BPF Distributors & Compounders Group and served in this capacity until 2012. In May 2012 he was elected Vice-president of the BPF and was elected President for two years from June 2013. In July 2016 Mike took up the chairmanship of the BPF’s newly formed BREXIT taskforce and in 2022 was appointed Honorary Treasurer.

Nigel studied Electrical & Electronic engineering and held various management positions in the injection moulding machinery industry including technical, automation and injection moulding machinery sales. In his current position he is responsible for sales & service and market development in the UK & Ireland.
